If you asked us where to purchase almost any weaving-related product, there’s a good chance The Woolery would be on our list. From Mirrix Looms to a large selection of yarns and beaters, it’s a great place to go for quality weaving (as well as spinning, felting, dyeing, etc.) products. Plus, they offer free shipping on orders over $100!
Why do customers choose the Woolery over other similar stores? :
We have such an incredible, diverse selection, for starters. We are proud to have established relationships with all the vendors we deal with, and are always first to be able to sell new items (most recently the new Flatiron wheel from Schacht). Our customer service team is consistently rated top-of-the -line, as well, and with such personable employee help every order, people love to come to us for shopping and oftentimes, project troubleshooting.
The Woolery sells fiber, weaving equipment, spinning equipment, knitting supplies, felting supplies and more. Are there staff members on hand who are knowledgeable about each of these different crafts?
Our senior weave instructor has been spinning and weaving for over 50 years, and could teach even the most novice crafter the skills with her eyes closed. Some of our staff like to spend time felting, some on dyeing and spinning – we even have a new addition to the team who is just learning to use a drop spindle for the first time! Our employees are constantly learning and teaching all different crafts.
The Woolery’s physical location is in Frankfort, Kentucky. Do you offer classes at the store? If so, what type?
We do offer classes, and love teaching them! We keep our calendar regularly updated; Intro to 4-Harness Weaving, Beginning Spinning, and Rug Hooking are just a few of the regularly scheduled courses we offer. We are also adding a series of dye classes to the line-up very soon, which we are so excited about! In addition to scheduled classes, we also offer private lesson in any of the fiber arts categories to suit the student.
Tell us your best story from a happy customer:
A customer contacted us once from Scotland; an amateur archaeologist, he’d amassed an impressive collection of medieval spindle whorls over the years. To complete his display, he was looking for a period spindle to showcase them on, and contacted us to help him find this incredibly specific item. With some vendor research and inventory searches, we were able to suit him up with a perfect hand-carved replica of a 16th century spindle, and his collection for display was complete! Never a dull moment.
Do you have any other events or specials going on at Convergence?
Yes! We are bringing our brand-new Lanmark Farms FeltedLoom, which is just fascinating to watch in use (and gives beautiful output). We also will have ten hours of demo time on the Mirrix Loom, demonstrated by Jeanne Whiteside. We are bringing the Baby Wolf and Wolf Pup looms – our senior weave instructor Nancy will be guiding folks through those right at our booth! This is all in addition to our Woolery hand carved shuttles, and our popular new Bluegrass Mills 6/2 cotton.
Anything else to add?
We are enjoying growing and expanding within the fiber arts community so much – this has been a great year for us, and with the addition of our new website and new brick-and-mortar storefront, things are really looking up! We have a lot up our sleeves for Fall and Winter 2016, as well. Convergence is a favorite of ours, and we’re glad to be able to meet so many of our customers in person, and learn from other fiber artists.
