Featured Customer: Sibel Moyano
The best part of working at Mirrix Looms is seeing both what our customers create and how happy creating makes them. Sometimes, the joy that weaving brings to people is almost palpable. Sibel is one of these people. Here’s her story:
When/how did you first get into weaving? What inspired you to begin weaving?
There were bead weave friendship bracelets around. Then I bought a friendship bracelet kit to make bracelets for my husband’s nephews and my family members and friends. While searching different models and techniques in Internet I found “Bead & Tapestry Cuffs” training of Claudia Chase on Craftsy three years ago. She is a really good teacher and I appreciated a lot her creativity and
approach to tapestry. I have registered to the course and immediately ordered a Mirrix Loom, 12’’ Guy Loom with shedding device and started making the course projects. My grandmother was a tapestry master. She was famous in her village. I always had in my mind to be able to make tapestry on one day. Craftsy.com and Claudia Chase made my dream come through.
When you did you first purchase a Mirrix? What made you decide to get one?
I have purchased a Mirrix Loom three years ago. I followed the Claudia Chase’s suggestions in Craftsy.
What do you like about Mirrix Looms compared to other looms you’ve used?
I can make bigger pieces using Mirrix Loom comfortably and easily with the help of the shedding device.
Tell us a little bit about your weaving style:
To be honest I am trying to make variations of Mirrix weave along series. Sometime I just let the threads and colors go on their way. I like the random improvement of the fiber and the beads.
What inspires your design choices?
Nature and lively colors and combinations. I also like Anatolian motifs and colors which I applied in one of the purses.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I would like to thank you and Claudia Chase to bring such a wonderful craft in my life. You are the bridge of my Anatolian roots to tapestry work I make.
