Copying as Flattery: A Mini Mirrix Moment
I am in the mood today to throw out some flattery. Actaually, I was just so inspired by Elena’s crystal and seed bead bracelet on leather attached to the Mini Mirrix without a warping bar. Wow, that was a mouthful. I don’t happen to have any leather around but I do have plenty of hand-painted silk and some buttons, a rubber O-ring. In other words, enough stuff to test the no-warping-bar warping method.
I wrapped an O-ring in silk. I then threaded a double length of silk through the holes in a round peweter button and wrapped this whole mess around the loom, buttoning the button into the O-ring. Then I started weaving a few 8/0 beads until I was able to fit a 4mm crystal. After that I alternated rows of crystals and seed beads.
Then I had this flash of insight. I kind of wanted my Mini Mirrix to stand and be really close to me on the table. I searched for a C-clamp (the one we use for the stand works great) and clamped the Mini Mirrix to the edge of my drafting table, careful not to tighten it too much and crack the beads and crystals at the bottom of the beam. Success! Try it. You’ll love it when you are in the mood for your Mini Mirrix to leave your lap and stand.
And this is how the piece looks off the loom!
